The 11th Day of the 11th Month

The eleventh day of the eleventh month means many things to many people.
In the United States November 11th is Veterans Day, it is the day to honor America's veterans for their patriotism, love of country, and willingness to serve and sacrifice.

While in America we honor the living veterans, the rest of the world honor the fallen. In many countries today is Remembrance Day or Armistice Day. (In Poland and Angola it is Independence Day)

The 11th of November marks the end of World War I.
On the eleventh hour, of the eleventh day, of the eleventh month, the guns fell silent.

On this 11th day, it is not important whether you honor the living or the fallen.
It is important only that you honor them.

A wonderful tribute you did here. I agree with you. Honour the dead, honour the living!

Great posting for Veterans Day! I especially like the top two photos! We honored two WWII veterans today at our Eagan Rotary lunch meeting!

Damn, Eric, that is superb work. The first and second ones blow me away. Where/how/with what settings did you get these? There could not be a better post for today.
